The
eyes are probably the first area of
the face to show the signs of aging.
Your eyes are the windows of the soul
and you want to protect your individuality.
If your eyes are making you look tired,
weary, depressed, or angry regardless
of how you feel, you may consider aesthetic
facial surgery to the eyes so that you
will obtain a whole new look and a much
more rested and less tired look. Blepheroplasty,
or eyelid surgery, may be the appropriate
procedure to restore the youthful appearance
of the eyes.
It is not unusual to see hooded upper lids or saggy lower lids
appearing when you are still in your
early or mid 30's. Although we commonly
will think that facial plastic surgery
is only required for those in the 50's,
60's and 70's, individuals in their
30's are excellent candidates as well.
Heredity plays a large part. Droopy
down turned eyes and overhanging upper
lids often run in families, but that
does not mean that you have to live
with the aesthetically displeasing appearance.

We can help you decide if you are a
good candidate for eyelid surgery. Eyelid
surgery can be performed on the upper
or lower eyelids or both. Excess skin
is removed through an incision made
in the natural crease or around the
upper eye. For the lower lids, protruding
fat tissue that causes "bags under the
eyes" is removed through an invisible
incision made inside the lower lid.
The eyelids heal particularly well because
of the rich blood supply in the region
and the resulting incisions to the upper
eyelids and lower eyelids are scarcely
noticeable. The transconjunctival technique
has no visible incisions.
The operation takes from one to two
hours. There is minimal discomfort after
eyelid surgery. You will be expected
to place ice packs over the eyes after
the surery. There will be some minor
swelling and bruising.. Generally, you
should be able to return to your normal
routine within 3-4 days.
|
| Within a
few weeks you should experience
an excellent overall improvement
which is virtually permanent. Friends
may comment on how refreshed and
rested you appear without guessing
that anything has been done. The
appropriateness of this procedure
for any individual needs to be carefully
evaluated so that the greatest benefit
may be achieved with the least recovery. |

Progressive drooping of the eyebrows and wrinkling of the forehead
are some of the earliest and most recognizable
aspects of facial aging. Sagging eyebrows
and forehead skin, when advanced, is
recognized by contact between the hairs
of the eyebrow and eyelash. This phenomenon
often prompts patients to comment that
their eyes seem to be "shrinking" and
that make-up smears on the upper eyelid
easily.
This redundancy of tissue also heaps up on the eyelid region
itself, creating accordion-like wrinkles.
Wrinkles develop in both a transverse
and horizontal orientation and fail
to disappear even when the eyebrows
are at rest. The results of these changes
can falsely create a visual image of
exhaustion or anger in an individual's
face.
The browlift procedure, also called the forehead lift, allows
for elevation of the eyebrows and tightening
of the forehead skin, giving the eye
region a more refreshed and well-rested
appearance. Wrinkles are reduced or
eliminated by removing the underlying
muscles which create them ,thus you
may never require botox injection. Excess
skin accounting for the laxity is redistributed
or removed from the scalp above.
The browlift procedure usually is performed through several
one centimeter incisions within the
hair using a lighted camera called an
endoscope. This approach has the advantage
of minimizing scalp scars, lessening
the backward movement of the hairline
and faster recovery.
